Conservation

A keen interest has always been taken to increase the wildlife on the farm, over the last 70 years no hedges have been removed in fact the field layout today is very similar to that on the 1847 Ordnance Survey map.

The use of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme enabled the farm to participate in conservation activities that would have not been done, this has now been superceeded by the DEFRA Entry Level Scheme where the farmer confirms a certain level of Conservation is carried out.

 

Specific areas have been kept specificially for wildlife such as the Marl Pit and Phils Folly . These have been enhanced by extensive hedgerow restoration and laying.
